Ok, I love to fly fish the bayou behind my house. The problem is it is a long walk between holes. I also love to ride my bike down the bayou but have trouble carrying the rod. The solution, River Trail Gear's new rod tube that mounts on the front fork.
I saw the new rack in the Cabela's catalog and wanted to order it. The problem was I have a shock on the front fork and I needed an extra bracket. I emailed Robert at River Trail Gear and he sent the bracket and Rod rack. I got it a few days later and put it on the bike. All you have to do is remove the axel and slide on the rack. A few quick adjustments and it is ready to go. You slide the rod tube( or in my case a rod and reel tube for my 4 piece Loomis with a Orvis Vortex reel) in place and tighten the retaining straps. The rod stands vertical in front of the bars and is very secure. I next headed out to the bayou. I took a few detours down some hills and rough terrain and had no problems with the rack. A few fish later and I packed the rod and went further upstream.

I really can't say enough about how great this rack is for my fishing and know all the people in the mountains will love it. They also have a rack for 2 rods.picture of a double tube fly rod rack mounted on a mountain bike

I hope they make it fit the right or left forks. I saw a new Haro today with disk brakes and only a left front fork (shock)

I will take it next trip to the Shonto Ranch and beat Jim to the big trout. I will also be using it on my next wading trip to the bay.
