PAMCA 2007 Fishing Tournament Results
The PAMCA Bay and Offshore Fishing tournament was held on September 15th in Freeport TX. Hosted by our sponsor Water Damage Recovery and George Leos as the Gov’nr of the mansion. It was a pirate themed tournament and was attended by more than 50 fishermen and women.
The party started Friday night at 5:00 pm and continued till 3:30 am Saturday morning. We were playing indoor and outdoor games, eating fish, shrimp, crab cakes and stuffed peppers and mushrooms. The Gov’nr, who ran the Calcutta with jokes and laughs till midnight, visited us, then we drink grog and ale and had great conversation till 3:30.
At 5:00 am I went door to door getting everyone ready to fish. Everyone had assigned boats and locations and we were off.
We had a small squall called
hurricane Humberto hit earlier in the week that scared away some landlubbers,
but the old salts came anyway, knowing it would be a fun weekend. Because of the
cancellations Alex and I got to go out and catch some fish for the fish dinner
Saturday night. Alex caught the longest fish a bull red 41 7/8 inches long and
Bobby had our boat in the Calcutta so won 1st, 2nd and 3rd
place.
The weather started getting rough (6 to 7 foot seas) so we went in by 2:00pm to be there for the weigh-in. As we know it was a fishing tournament not a catching tournament so not as many fish were brought in as I had hoped. Many boats caught no keeper fish but a few did very well

27 ½ inch and 11.4 pounds
2nd place was:

3rd place Michael Giacona with:

Winners of the Red Fish contest were:

2nd place Joanna Hadjek Water Damage Recovery guest
38 ¼ inch 21.5 pound fish
3rd place Mark Salcido

It was decided by the tournament committee that we would split the pirate treasure (remaining prizes) between the pirates in attendance (fisher people) so all the scallywags got a ticket which were drawn from a Gander Mountain hat and everyone went home a winner.
Everyone said it was the best tournament yet and next years will be bigger and better.
Water Damage volunteered to be our host next year and we will have more participation from all our members.
